The Lazy Gamer

So i recently had an epiphany about my gaming habits and if you haven't read the title of this post you may be even lazier than me. I am a Lazy Gamer. I am quite driven and active in my regular life, I have two dogs that keep me busy also I play Dodge ball every Tuesday, but lately I've been watching video game channels on YouTube when I'm bored or its a slow day. One that has drawn my eye is ThatOneVideoGamers Channel 'The Completionist', his name is an induction of his gaming habits. He completes games. Front to back, start to finish. As he points out in his live-streams and videos; this can often be a grind. Yet he pushes him self to every nook and cranny of the game collecting every last star piece and jiggy the game might have to often the result of no end game bonus at all. Now every one who has beaten a game knows it is often a rewarding experience. I have beat Earthbound for the super Nintendo over five times and every time those credits roll I get that rush of having achieved something, but that eventually wears away when I wipe off the Cheeto dust from my Mass Effect shirt and throw my empty cans of Pepsi in the recycle bin. (That's right I recycle.)
I have noticed though the older I get the less time or patience I have for bad or boring games. When you get a new game and you look at it in the passenger seat of your car, the blood is flowing you are excited and eager to unwrap the cellophane bounty you have procured from the depths of a best buy shelf. Ravenously you beat the dungeons or fight the aliens, or even trade a polka dot table to one of your anthropomorphic animal  villagers, but eventually you get that lull from a game. Whether you have a busy social life, a demanding job, or like most who have some mild case of A.D.D., your eyes begin to get drawn to the next shiny object or new gadget that can scratch your butt whilst holding your seventeen thousand songs legally or illegally procured, yet you only listen to Katy Perry's Roar on repeat loudly and with enthusiasm on your drive to work. I find this Hedonistic Adaptation mixed with my often easily distracted/anxiety saturated mind, leads to me not completing a game yet continuing on to the next object of my valuable yet limited attention span. I do not like this habit and am conscious of its existence. My goal this year is to complete and finish projects, games, anything I start, to try and break my self of this self sabotaging worrisome behavior. Gaming is something i enjoy and has helped to magnify the identification of my procrastination and low attention span. So maybe I am just a victim of my natural inclination and raised human behavior or maybe I'm just a Lazy Gamer.
